Day 1 in The 12 Days of Christmas Event

Happy Holidays everyone! Today launches our 12 Days of Christmas event! Each day from December 1st-12th we will give you a discount, freebie or online tutorial!

Today is day 1 and we are celebrating by giving you this online sewing tutorial for a holiday bandana! This is a super easy tutorial that will make your pet festive for parties, photos or napping by the fire

Let's get started!

Here is what you will need:
Sewing Machine
Scissors
Pins
Fabric
Pen
Ruler/yard stick
poster board or tissue paper

Now that you have all of your supplies, you need to figure out which size pattern you need to cut. I have Small, Medium and Large for you here but I am sure you can easily alter these to make them larger or smaller.

Pattern Dimensions:

Once you have chosen your pattern size you will need to use your ruler and draw it out on your poster board or tissue paper. I used a poster board you could see it better. Once you have your pattern drawn, go ahead and cut out your bandana. You will need to cut out two pieces!

Place your two pieces of fabric with right sides together! You will want to sew a straight line across the top of the bandana (across the dotted line).  Give yourself about a 1/4" seam allowance. Don't forget to back stitch!

Then turn your bandana so that you are looking at the wrong side of the fabric. Press down the seam in the center where you just made your first stitch across.

Next, you will want to fold the sides in about a 1/4" and pin them into place.

Once you have both sides pinned go ahead and sew a straight line across both folds. I made this more visible with a dotted black line.

Do you see the bandana coming together?

Next you will want to flip the bandana so the right sides are facing each other again.

You are almost done!

Now, you will want to sew two diagonal lines that meet in the center point of the bandana. Again, don't forget to back stitch. You will want to reinforce your bandana seams where you thread the collar though.

To make this step more visible I have added dotted lines where you want to sew.

Lastly, pull your bandana right side out and give it a quick press with and iron if desired.
There you have it! A simple, cute pet accessory that is not just limited to the holiday season!

  11. Most of us, if we are honest would probably admit that our shopping has a certain set routine to it, including certain days or certain times that we schedule to get it done. reflective dog gear
